The 2016 Ho-Hai-Yan Gongliao Rock Festival started yesterday and will end tomorrow. Apart from Taiwanese band Sodagreen performing at the festival again, singer Crowd Lu, Matzka and several other bands are attending this year’s festival.
According to New Taipei City Government’s Tourism and Travel Department, the Taiwan Rock Band Contest, held yesterday, featured a number of local rock bands. For the Ho-Hai-Yan Indie Music Awards scheduled for today, 10 of Taiwan’s top new bands will compete for the championship.
For the World Rock Performance on the last day of the event, several international rock bands will gather together tomorrow, including AKi from Japanese rock band SID, Irish rock band Hogan, South Korean heavy metal band Victim Mentality, Mehdi Nassouli from Morocco, An Honest Mistake from Malaysia, and folk metal band Song of Chu from China.

Sodagreen will perform the grand finale at the concert tomorrow; a perfect ending for the annual festival. Meanwhile, New Taipei City has launched a safety program, reminding people to protect themselves from the dangers of sunburn, drowning or drugs.

For the first time, the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has fined a company for improper disposal of its defunct satellite. The satellite cable company Dish Network was fined US$150,000 because it failed to move an old satellite that was no longer in operation to a safe distance from others currently being used. The FCC had asked Dish Network to move one of its older satellites, EchoStar-7, 186 miles further from the Earth.
