“Dear driver: Please give this letter to that Chia-chi student. She may ride your bus on Thursday or Friday next week. Please hold on to this letter for me, but don’t peep inside. Thank you.” This is a note that a boy student from National Tainan Second Senior High School gave to Chang Shih-wei, who works as a driver for the Tainan City Bus Company, asking him pass a love letter on to a National Tainan Chia-chi Girls’ Senior High School student whom he admired. Not failing in his mission, Chang delivered the love letter to the girl in question without a hitch, enabling the two to pair up.

Chang, who is 50 years old, has been working for the Tainan City Bus Company for four years. He is very considerate, often going out of his way to look after the elderly and other passengers. This has made him very popular with passengers and students, and this year he has been named as one of Greater Tainan’s outstanding drivers.

Chang is responsible for driving Tainan’s number 11 bus, which goes from Chengsi Borough in Annan District via Tainan Railway Station to Tainan Municipal Dacheng Junior High School. He is a witty talker and very popular with students, who all see him as a friend, with some of them even asking him to pass on their love letters.
