Meet Kathleen the mouse and Mark the elephant. Kathleen is very brave and likes adventures, but Mark is very shy and scared of many things. But friends stay together, so Mark follows Kathleen wherever she goes. Sometimes they get into some very sticky situatuins.

Mark gets a fright 馬克吃驚記
Kathleen was in the kitchen when Mark came rushing through the front door. Kathleen went and met Mark in the living room.
"Quick! Turn off the lights," Mark said.
"What's wrong?" Kathleen asked.
"A strange man followed me all the way home and then walked into our backyard."
"He probably just lives behind us. Don't be so afraid," Kathleen said nervously, wondering why Mark came home so early.
Mark sat down to rest and Kathleen was about to go back into the kitchen when they heard a noise.
"I think that came from the kitchen," Mark said quietly.
"I think you're just hearing things," Kathleen said.
"I'm sure I heard something."
"I really think you should rest. I'll go make you a snack."
Suddenly they heard the back door slam.
"What was that!" Mark cried.
"Go check," Kathleen said.
"No, you check."
"Why should I? You're a guy, and you're much bigger than I am."
Kathleen wouldn't give. Finally Mark decided that he needed to go find out who or what was in the kitchen.
He opened the door. Suddenly he heard a loud "surprise!" It came from his friends, whom Kathleen had invited over for a surprise birthday party…(MICHAEL KEARNEY, STAFF WRITER)
馬克匆忙從前門衝進屋子裡，凱薩琳則正在廚房。薩琳走到客廳找馬克。
馬克說：「快點！把燈關掉。」
凱薩琳問：「怎麼了嗎？」
「有一個陌生人一路跟著我回家，然後走進我們的後院。」
心想馬克今天怎麼這麼早就回家的凱薩琳緊張兮兮地說：「他可能只是住在我們家後面吧，別這麼提心吊膽的。」
就在馬克坐下來休息，而凱薩琳準備走回廚房時，他們聽到一陣聲響。
馬克小聲地說：「我覺得那是從廚房傳來的聲音。」
凱薩琳說：「那是你的幻覺吧。」
「我確定我有聽到些什麼。」
「我真的覺得你需要好好休息一下，我去幫你準備一些點心。」
突然間，他們聽到後門砰地一聲關上。
馬克嚷道：「那是什麼？」
凱薩琳說：「你去看看。」
「不要，妳去看看。」
「為什麼是我？你是男生耶，而且你比我壯多了。」
凱薩琳不願意讓步，最後馬克決定去探查到底廚房裡有什麼人或發生了什麼事。
他打開廚房門，突然聽到他的朋友們大喊：「驚喜！」原來凱薩琳邀請他們一起來幫他舉辦生日驚喜派對…（翻譯：袁星塵）
