Men get it wrong! Most women would rather not get flowers on Valentine's Day, according to a survey published Monday.

Almost 70 percent of men said they believed that their loved ones would like flowers on Feb. 14. But only one in four women said they like receiving them.

Ninety-two percent of women said they would prefer other gifts, such as chocolates or even a marriage proposal . Many women described flowers as impractical and overpriced.

Many women feel that men don't need to buy expensive gifts to show their love. Instead, they'd like men to find other ways to be romantic. For example, some men put together scrapbooks full of pictures of them with their companion.

Around 400 men and women were interviewed for the survey by the Hong Kong environmental group Green Sense. The group has urged people to cut environmental damage on Valentine's Day by buying potted plants.(STAFF WRITER, WITH DPA)
