A white-faced monkey escaped from a zoo in Mississippi on July 31. The monkey unlocked his own pen. People chased him around the zoo before he ran away.

Ann Stewart, an employee at the Tupelo Buffalo Park and Zoo, said Oscar knows his own name. She said he might come up to people if they give him bananas, marshmallows or grapes. But she asked people to call the zoo if they see him.

"He will bite. People around here have handled him, but he will bite. Just call the Buffalo Park," Stewart said.

Oscar is a nine-year-old capuchin, a kind of monkey from South and Central America.

Stewart said Oscar might be far away because he can run very fast.

"He could outrun the horses," she said. "If he doesn't want to be caught, you can't catch him."
