The Adventures of Kathleen the Great and Mark the Meek 英勇凱薩琳與害羞馬克歷險記

Meet Kathleen the mouse and Mark the elephant. Kathleen is very brave and likes adventure, but Mark is very shy and scared of many things. But friends stay together, so Mark follows Kathleen wherever she goes. Sometimes they get into some very sticky situations.

見見老鼠凱薩琳和大象馬克。凱薩琳非常勇敢又喜歡冒險，但馬克的個性十分害羞，對許多事情都感到害怕。不過，朋友都喜歡黏在一塊兒，所以凱薩琳走到哪兒，馬克就會跟到哪兒。有時候，他們也會碰上非常棘手的情況...

A near miss 驚險萬分

Mark and Kathleen were on their way to an amusement park, and Mark was driving.

"I really can't wait to ride the roller coasters when we get there," said Kathleen as she eagerly looked out the window. "And the darts game is always fun to play. How much longer until we get there?"

Mark checked a nearby road sign. "I think we only have another half hour or so to go," he decided as he shifted gears. "I don't want to wait in line too much."

"I think since it rained so hard this morning, only a few people should be there," Kathleen said.

"Sounds good to me," Mark replied.

As they entered a tunnel, the engine stopped running and the car slowly came to a stop.

"What's happened?" Kathleen asked.

Mark studied the gas gauge. "We've run out of gas," he concluded.

"What?!" Kathleen was shocked. "How could this happen?"

"I just didn't think we'd need more for the trip. I'll call the police and set a warning cone behind the car," Mark volunteered while taking off his seatbelt.

馬克和凱薩琳正前往遊樂場途中，由馬克開車。

「我實在等不及要坐雲霄飛車了，」凱薩琳一邊殷切地看著窗外一邊說︰「射飛鏢也很好玩。我們還要多久才會到呢？」

馬克查看了一下附近的路標。「我想大概再半小時就會到了，」他一面換擋一面說︰「我不想大排長龍等候。」

凱薩琳說︰「我想，今天早上雨下得那麼大，去的人應該不多。」

馬克回答︰「聽起來不錯。」

他們進入隧道時，引擎突然熄火，車子緩緩停了下來。

凱薩琳問︰「發生了什麼事？」

馬克查看一下油表，做出結論說︰「汽油用完了。」

「什麼！」凱薩琳震驚地說︰「怎麼會發生這種事？」

馬克說︰「我以為油量還夠。我會報警，並在車子後方放置三角錐警告。」他自動自發地解開了安全帶。

馬克把三角錐放在車子後方時，一輛卡車朝著他瘋狂按喇叭，加速駛過來‥‥‥ （翻譯：賴美君）
