Like Taiwan, India has a lot of food vendors on the street. They may sell from small stalls, push carts, rickshaws or trucks.
Many of these little stands dot India's spread out capital of New Delhi. There are probably 300,000 outdoor vendors in this city alone.
But the Indian Supreme Court has said most of these places must close up shop.
The reason is that New Delhi police and officials say that too many of the stalls are dangerously dirty. Eating at them can spread diseases like diarrhea and typhoid.
Eashwar Das, 18, hopes the city won't shut down his stand. "My family back home depends on me sending money," he said as he served breads and spiced lentils.
But the city is trying to clean up for the 2010 Commonwealth Games, to improve health conditions and to push customers into restaurants that pay taxes. The city probably won't stop their drive.
