The Adventures of Kathleen the Great and Mark the Meek

    Saturday, Feb 10, 2007,Page 13

Meet Kathleen the mouse and Mark the elephant. Kathleen is very brave and likes adventure, but Mark is very shy and scared of many things. But friends stay together, so Mark follows Kathleen wherever she goes. Sometimes they get into some very sticky situations.

    Home at last 終於到家了

As Mark walked in through his front door for the first time in days, he breathed a sigh of relief.

"Am I ever glad to be back from Japan," he said. "It was just one crazy adventure after another there."

"It was a little crazy, but I still had fun," Kathleen responded while setting her backpack down on Mark's sofa. "And I'm sure you did too."

"No doubt, but I'm still happy to be here," Mark replied. "Would you like anything to drink?"

"I'm not sure," said Kathleen. "Do you have any milk?"

"Sure do," Mark replied as he got the milk out of the kitchen.

While Kathleen was drinking her milk, she noticed a small black spot on the ceiling. "That's funny," Kathleen mumbled. "That spot seems to be getting bigger."

Sure enough, the small black spot soon became a real hole. The hole got larger and larger. Parts of the ceiling fell into the kitchen.

"Mark, your roof is falling in!" Kathleen cried as she pushed Mark out of the way of the falling chunks of ceiling.

"Oh no!" cried Mark while he and Kathleen ran out of the kitchen. "What are we going to do now?" (jason cox, staff writer)
