Thanksgiving Dinner 感恩節晚餐
"Hey Mark, do you remember how long the turkey is supposed to roast?" Kathleen called.
"I don't know," Mark said. "How much pumpkin should I put inside these pies?"
Kathleen and Mark were visiting Kathleen's aunt and uncle in the US, and they were going to cook Thanksgiving dinner for the whole family.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Kathleen's aunt had asked. "Thanksgiving dinner is not easy to cook."
But Kathleen had insisted. "Don't worry about it!" she had said. "Mark and I know what we're doing!"
Now she wasn't so sure.
"Um, Mark? What time is it?" Kathleen said. Her voice sounded a little bit panicked.
"Almost 3pm, why?"
"We only have four hours!" Kathleen wailed. "The turkey isn't done, you don't know how much pumpkin to put in the pies, I haven't started making the mashed potatoes, the stuffing looks really gross, and I lost my recipe for cranberry sauce!"
Mark hurried over to where Kathleen was standing and tried to calm her down. "It's going to be okay," he said. "We'll finish in time. We just have to ..."
He stopped talking and sniffed the air. "Kathleen? Is something burning?"
"Oh no!" Kathleen cried. "The turkey!" (Emily Shih, Staff Writer)
