When you were a baby, how did you eat? Babies don't know how to use chopsticks or knives and forks to eat. When babies are hungry, they need their parents to feed them.
Baby birds are just the same. These baby birds have their mouths open wide so that their parents can drop food into their mouth.
It's not just mommy birds that feed the babies -- dads do just as much of the work! If dads did not help out, it would be too much work to take care of and find food for so many little ones, so both parents share the responsibility. When everyone helps, there is much less work!
These baby birds are so young that they don't even have their feathers. They never leave the nest, and they need their parents to do everything for them. When they are older, they will grow feathers. Then, their parents will push them out of the nest so that they can learn to fly. But even after they have left the nest, the adult birds still feed the baby birds until they have learned to find food on their own.(Kayleen Hartman, Staff writer)

這些雛鳥年紀還很小，甚至還沒長羽毛。牠們從未離開鳥巢，需要父母幫忙做所有事情。長大一點時，牠們就會長羽毛。之後，父母就會逼牠們離開鳥巢，讓牠們學習飛翔。不過，雛鳥離開鳥巢後，成鳥仍會繼續餵食幼鳥，直到幼鳥學會自己覓食。
