Why do you think these monks are wearing white masks on their faces? They aren't wearing the masks to keep from getting sick. They are wearing the masks because they don't want to ruin their art.
These monks are making art out of sand. Because the sand is so light, it will all fly away if someone blows on it. The monks are wearing masks in case they sneeze.
They are making a piece of art called a mandala. Mandalas take a long time to make. Big mandalas can even take a few days to make. The monks have to work slowly because if they try to rush and make a mistake, they have to start over. Because making mandalas takes such a long time, these monks have to be very patient.
