    Standing still

    Sunday, Nov 06, 2005,Page 14

Have you ever tried to hide from someone by standing very still?

Maybe you were hoping that if that person didn't see you move, they wouldn't be able to see you at all.

The people in this picture are doing the same thing, but they are doing it for the opposite reason. They are standing very still because they want people to notice them.

These performers have put gold paint all over their clothes and bodies. They even put it on their faces and in their hair!

Once they are covered in gold paint, they stand very still so that people who see them will not be able to tell if they are statues or just great performers.
    Do you know?
    SURPRISING STATUES
In many cities around the world, people cover themselves in paint or make-up that makes them look like statues. Then they stand very still in a park or on a street corner. Sometimes people walking by don't realize that they are not statues until they suddenly move or say hello!
