    Walking through art

    Monday, Sep 26, 2005,Page 14

    PHOTO: AP

It may look like something you would see in your dreams at night, but the space this man is walking through is actually art.

People in Hong Kong had an idea: they would build a sculpture that people could walk through. A sculpture can be as big or as small as an artist wants it to be. These people certainly made theirs very big!

This scupture is interesting to look at, because it has a lot of light and color. The people who built it used ideas from other countries to make the different shapes inside. This part of the sculture has one dome after another. This is supposed to make the sculpture look like outdoor markets in Iran (伊朗).

    ISLAMIC ART
This sculpture uses ideas from other countries besides Iran. The sculpture is meant to remind people of the shapes and styles of Islamic art, which comes from many different countries. For hundreds of years, Islamic art could not have pictures of people, so it uses a lot of beautiful shapes instead.

The building with the dome on top is very old.
    這棟有圓屋頂的建築已經很老舊了。
