Taiwanese-American NBA star Jeremy Lin (林書豪) will be coming to Taiwan in October for the first NBA preseason game to be held in the country since 2009, the promoter said yesterday.

Bros Sports Marketing said that after four years of trying to get the NBA back to Taiwan, the league has finally agreed to stage a preseason game in the country between the Houston Rockets and the Indiana Pacers on Oct. 13.

Taiwan is no stranger to hosting NBA stars. In 2008, an NBA Madness Taiwan Tour was held here, featuring former All-Star Scottie Pippen and former NBA player B.J. Armstrong.

The first-ever NBA preseason game in Taiwan was held in 2009 between the Denver Nuggets and the Indiana Pacers. The game drew a capacity crowd of more than 13,000 to the Taipei Arena.

Bros Sports Marketing said it has not yet decided the time, location or ticket prices for this year’s game.

Lin had a meteoric rise early last year after his breakout performances for the New York Knicks.

Later in the year, he signed a three-year, US$25 million contract with the Houston Rockets after the Knicks failed to match the offer.
