Taiwan got over the disappointment of a disqualification in the World Indoor Tug of War Championships in Perth, Scotland, to claim gold in the mixed division in the tournament finale on Sunday.
The team of eight students from National Nantou Senior High School (NNSHS) and Taipei’s Jingmei Girls High School (JGHS) defeated England 2-0 in the mixed 600kg category. On their way to the final, Taiwan defeated Scotland, Ireland, the Netherlands and China, NNSHS principal Huang Kuo-hsuen (黃國軒) said.
Taiwan took their sadness and frustration over disqualification in the final of the men’s 560kg category a day earlier out on the rival teams, NNSHS coach Chen Chien-wen (陳建文) said.
The four girls from JGHS were also part of the teams that took the gold in the women’s 540kg and 500kg categories.
