Chiangs will be returned to home in China: family

NO LOVE LOST The Chiang family says it has reached a consensus on the request, which they claim does not mean the dictator and his son did not love Taiwan

By Mo Yan-chih  /  STAFF REPORTER, WITH CNA

"It was they [the Chiang family] who wanted to relocate [the mausoleums] to Wuchihshan ... after some NT$30 million has been spent on the relocation and another NT$40 million was earmarked for the project," Chen said in Taichung County yesterday.

"Now they say they don't want it anymore. How can they lie to the government and Taiwanese people?" he asked.

Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) presidential candidate Ma Ying-jeou (馬英九) yesterday urged the government not to leave the issue of the management of the mausoleums unsolved.

"The central government should hand over the management of the mausoleums to those who will take over the responsibility," Ma said during a visit to Taichung County.

"It should not just walk away and leave the issue unsolved," he said.
