Besides donating considerable money and products to regions in need, Taiwan's government had mapped out laws to combat money-laundering and established an "anti-terrorism" task force to be in charge of information-gathering concerning terrorists, drugs and anti-money-laundering.

"We believe that no loophole should be allowed in the international network in combating terrorism. Chinese Taipei, [Taiwan's title in the APEC] is an important part of this network," Lee said.

Lee used the opportunity to express Taiwan's regret at not being allowed to participate in the APEC foreign ministers' working meeting on anti-terrorism two days ago.

"Given that anti-terrorism is everybody's responsibility, we hope Chinese Taipei will not be excluded from the meeting in the future," he stated.
