Officials arrive for Earth Summit launch

Wang To-far (王塗發), a NGO delegate from the Taiwan Environmental Protection Union (台灣環保聯盟), told the Taipei Times that the transnational business collaboration has left Taiwan more vulnerable because it has no stance to ensure related nuclear safety.

"The Kungliao case is not the only one. Many countries in the third world or developing countries are suffering from the collaboration of rich countries," said Wang, who is a retired economics professor from National Taipei University.

Other Taiwanese NGOs activists attended the World Sustainability Hearing held by the US-based Earth Island yesterday.
