Official may resign over water crisis

Officials said if rain doesn't come by the middle of this month, Tainan County could be next in line.

As for Hsinchu Science-based Industrial Park, officials say there should be enough water through the end of June.

Huang Wen-hsiung (黃文雄), vice chairman of the National Science Council, said a task force would be established if water to the park dips below 70 percent of the normal supply.

Kaohsiung City yesterday implemented the first stage of water rationing, affecting city pools and public fountains. The measures were originally scheduled to go in effect on Friday.
