Chen sure of coalition at year-end

"The facts have proved during the last year that I am not a troublemaker but a peacemaker," Chen said.

Chen said that he had handled policy correctly in order to stabilize the cross-strait situation and maintain Taiwan's national dignity.

"The other side only listens to what it wants to hear," Chen said. "But democracy, reciprocity and dignity are principles on which we will never give ground."
