Chen makes debut in the Big Apple

NEW YORK, NEW YORK For the first time ever, a president of Taiwan has been able to meet openly with members of the US Congress on American soil

Other members of the delegation included Bob Schaffer of Colorado, Taiwan-born Oregon congressman David Wu (吳振偉), and New York Democrat Gary Ackerman.

Chen's delegation was expected to maintain a busy schedule yesterday, starting with a visit with New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, trips to the New York Stock Exchange and Metropolitan Museum of Art, and receptions and dinner meetings with representatives of New York's Taiwanese-American community.
