China executed 113 people in one day last week to mark the beginning of a new "strike hard" campaign against rising violent and organized crime, according to state media reports.
In Chongqing, 55 people were executed on Friday for violent crimes after a public sentencing in a sports stadium, said the April 21 edition of the Chongqing Daily, seen in Beijing yesterday.
In Wuhan, another 30 were executed on the same day for crimes including kidnapping, murder and theft, the Hubei Daily reported.
Those executions were on top of 28 on Friday already reported by the Xinhua news agency.
