Chu's close ties to Lien and his family has added to the mystery surrounding the case. Some rumors say the missing money went to Lien's presidential campaign, but KMT spokesman Jason Hu (胡志強) denied such allegations yesterday.
"We know nothing about it. It has nothing to do with the KMT and Mr Lien," Hu said.
