KMT says its assets protected by law

TRUST PROPOSAL With relevant legislation at least three months away from being enacted, top party officials have warned the opposition against doing anything rash

Meanwhile, Minister of Finance Paul Chiu (邱正雄) confirmed yesterday that establishing a trust fund before the March election was next to impossible.

Chiu said it would be impossible to put the party's assets into a trust fund right now since there is no law governing trust funds.

He said that within three months, his ministry could hammer out the details of a law to govern trust funds, but it would take at least four months before the law would be put into practice.
