"We have documents to show that Soong privately opened special accounts without following due procedure and gaining President Lee's consent. He then transferred money from these accounts into his son's account, as a result of the failure in the legislative elections of 1992 [when Soong was forced to resign as secretary-general], '' the source said.
Moreover, the source pointed out that "if the party wants to give financial help to the candidates, it would do so through the party's regular channels, such as the organizational affairs department, rather than by giving Soong some pocket money.''
