Before relocating to Belgium next year, jazz musician Martijn Vanbuel will hold one more concert with his group Orbit Folks (世界軌跡), bringing a new, challenging crossover feast of sounds from Africa, India, Indonesia, Hakka, folk, jazz, post-rock and more. Orbit Folks’ musical collaborators Nana Formosa, a virtuoso percussion duo, will also play at the concert.

Legacy Taipei, located in a former warehouse at Huashan 1914 Creative Park (華山1914), hosts top Taiwanese pop performers and international acts. Tonight’s performer is singer-songwriter Huang Shan-liang (荒山亮) with rock ‘n’ roll and blues. He plays with the Fung band (丰樂團). The spotlight is on Japanese punk group NAMBA69 tomorrow, with Japan’s melodic punk act GOD4NOTHING and young rockers My First Story also playing. Golden Melody award-winning Puyuma musician Sangpuy (桑布伊) takes the stage on Wednesday.

Post-rock band EF from Sweden arrives tonight at The Wall (這牆), Taipei’s most prominent venue for indie rock artists, with Swedish indie pop act Halo of Pendor, Taiwan’s Until Seeing Whale’s Eyes (直到看見鯨魚的眼睛) and 2HRS as the opening acts. It is the release party of electronic post-rock act Formosa Romance’s debut album tomorrow, joined by garage/punk rockers The White Eyes (白目), Forests (森林合唱樂團) and TuT. Sunday promises to be a jazz night featuring Blueberry Jazz Pie (藍莓派爵士樂團) and Festival Jazz Ensemble (小節慶爵士樂團). Wednesday’s roster is formed by electronic/post punk group Miss Banana (香蕉小姐), punk band Destroyers (擊沈女孩) and emo-rock/post-hardcore outfit The Girl’s Mood (少女情懷). Chinese rocker P.K.14 hits the stage on Thursday. Also on the bill are Taiwan’s post-punk rockers Macbeth (馬克白) and psychedelic rock band The Gigantic Roar (巨大的轟鳴).

Japanese punks PUNiK hit the stage tonight at Indie rock club Revolver. Also on the bill are garage rock favorites 88 Balaz (88顆芭樂籽), powerviolence/crust band Stench of Lust and Mr. Dirty. Tomorrow’s show features ambient/chill-out band 90Hz and post-rock trio The Capelin (柳葉魚). Electronic duo Orientone (大聲東) mixes Oriental music traditions with electronic sounds on Wednesday, with electronic duo Dronetonics and Beneath the Leaves also playing. It is indie rockers Freeman (自由人), The Disabled Outlaws and post-rock/scream group LSD Love Sex Delicious on Thursday.

Indie rockers Tight Tight Crotch (緊褲襠) and Murky Crows (昏鴉) are scheduled tonight at Roxy Rocker, a basement hangout for indie rockers and fans in Taipei. Alternative metal group XIII Goat (拾三羊) share the stage with noise pop/post-rock band Corgi Riot (柯基暴動) tomorrow.

Pop group Hush! Flying Highway (飛行公路) plays on Sunday at Kafka on the Shore (海邊的卡夫卡), a coffee house-cum-music and arts venue in the National Taiwan University area.

Toffee (太妃堂) mixes traditional Chinese music with contemporary beats tonight at Riverside Live House (河岸留言西門紅樓展演館). Other performers are R&B/funk group Space Cake (史貝絲考克) and funky/soul outfit Blue Blooded Bruder (藍血人). Pop musician Denise Juan (阮丹青) and her band Sunshine Costa team up with Timeless Fusion Party (無限融合樂團) on Thursday.

R.A.Y. Band (雷樂隊), a trio of veteran session musicians who play power-rock originals and covers, appear tonight at Riverside Cafe (河岸留言). Tomorrow’s show is by Rukai musician Gelresai (陳世川), whose musical influences range from Aboriginal tunes, British rock to blues and folk. Jazz combos Hands Up Band (分享器) and HOPELAZZ trio are schedule on Sunday. It is electronic/alternative rock outfit Sleeping Brain (眠腦) and post-rock act Phantasy of Mirage (現象師) on Tuesday, followed by Paiwan hip-hop artists Boxing (拳樂團) and indie rockers Great Adventure (大冒險樂團) on Wednesday. Female singers Hama (蛤小蟆) and Sherry (鄭雙雙) take the stage on Thursday.

Europa Night Attack bring European jazz tonight at Sappho de Base, a late-night lounge bar that hosts mostly jazz shows. Mo-Men-T, a Hong Kong-based quintet, put together a creative mixture of modern jazz, funk and post-rock tomorrow. It is Minyen Hsieh with Symbiosis Trio (謝明諺與共聲体三重奏) on Sunday. Featuring American jazz drummer Adam James Sorensen, the Adam Sorensen Trio perform on Wednesday, followed by the Ash Hines Jazztet playing jazz grooves and compositions influenced by the cool-Jazz genre on Thursday.

Tonight’s main act is Paiwan group Feature, Percussion and Dance (羽•擊舞藝術) at Tiehua Music Village (鐵花村), an arts village composed of a music venue, design and crafts shops and a weekend arts fair in Taitung City. Hualien-based acoustic folk duo Tom and Huck (湯姆與哈克) share the stage with ukulele player David Chen (陳建廷) tomorrow.
