Now in its second year, the Street Fashion Festival (創意潮流文化節) takes place this weekend at Huashan 1914 Creative Park (華山1914) with a lineup of activities and events including music concerts, a market of 100 stalls, lectures, a street dance competition, and a band contest in which 80 senior high school groups will go head to head.

Except for the concerts at Legacy Taipei (傳音樂展演空間), admission to the festival is free.

“The Street Fashion Festival is not just a music festival; it’s a lifestyle festival that celebrates music, design and dance with attitude,” said Wayne Liu (劉偉恩), festival organizer and marketing director at Cool (Cool 流行酷報), the country’s premier youth fashion magazine aimed at 18-to-28-year-olds.

The festival’s centerpiece is two concerts at Legacy Taipei. Indie singer Queen (魏如昀), emerging band Magic Power (魔幻力量) and pop rocker Allen Ko (柯有倫) share the bill for tonight’s rock-themed concert.

Singaporean crooner JJ Lin (林俊傑), who is serving as the spokesman for this year’s festival, will perform as tonight’s final act.

Tomorrow night’s concert is an eclectic mix of sounds, with indie electronica group The Girl and the Robots (女孩與機器人), emerging R ’n’ B crooner R.Chord (謝和弦), rapper Soft Lipa (蛋堡) and Golden Melody Award winner LaLa Hsu (徐佳瑩) sharing the stage.

“These acts write their own songs to express their feelings, and that’s what fashion is all about,” Liu said.

Apart from the rock and pop concerts at Legacy Taipei, nine indie bands will play the main stage at the festival site tonight, tomorrow and Sunday from 7:10pm to 8:30pm.

The lineup consists of Clockworker (發條人), Unfamiliar Friends Party (不熟的朋友派對), Kou Chou Ching (拷秋勤), Far From Answer, I Get It (那我懂你意思了), Queen Suitcase (皇后皮箱), Candy Wine (糖果酒), PopHolic and Allen (艾倫).

Lectures will be given by designers Leo Liao (廖人帥) and Henry Huang (黃亨立) and pop group The Drifters (浪花兄弟), among others.
