The Chairman (董事長樂團) won the Golden Melody Award for best band earlier this month, confirmation that the nine-year-old rock combo's new line-up and new sound for its Looking for a New World (找一個新世界) album released late last year hit on a winning formula. The band has grown up, ditched the more punk/rock elements and honed a repertoire of sophisticated post-rock tunes. In 2000 the group's then frontman Guan Yu (冠宇) lost his fight against leukemia, and the band released a tribute album in 2003 entitled Solo Flight (董事長 -- 冠宇: 單飛).
