Legacy Taipei, located in a former warehouse at Huashan 1914 Creative Park (華山1914), hosts top Taiwanese pop performers and international acts. Tonight, the spotlight is on Hong Kong singer-songwriter Ellen Loo (盧凱彤). Wednesday’s roster is formed by post-rock acts Sugar Plum Ferry (甜梅號), Selfkill and ambient electronica artists Empty Space on a Chessboard (棋盤上的空格). The latest installment of The Next Big Thing features new talents Seafood (海鮮套餐) and Tight Tight Crotch (緊褲襠) on Thursday.

Rockers and fans are welcome to dance all night tonight at The Wall (這牆), Taipei’s most prominent venue for indie rock artists, to live music by X.O.X.O., OVDS and Salamader (沙羅曼蛇). Tomorrow promises to be a metal night with deathcore group Sideffect (賽德費), Clubs of Three (梅花參) and Hekate (席卡提). The show on Sunday features female rockers Black Mocha (黑摩卡), Slack Tide (Slaㄎk Tiㄉe) and TuT. Wednesday’s main act is indie rockers After Quiet, followed by experimental rockers Low Brightness Period (低明度時期) and Kaohsiung-based The Locals Punk Band (草地人) on Thursday.

Heavy metal bands Nocturne Moonrise and Silent Hell (獄無聲) appear tonight at Underworld (地下社會), a small basement club in Taipei. Later, four self-dubbed reigning queens of rock ‘n’ roll, including DJs Sharkie, Wanting and Lydia will descend to hold a party as a tribute to the venue heading toward closure.

On Friday, electric blues band Bopomofo (ㄅㄆㄇㄈ) plays live at Italian restaurant Capone’s. At the same venue on Saturday, drummer Abe Nbugu Kenyatta leads a band from his hometown of New Orleans. The Wall (這牆) programs regular live rock shows at Kaohsiung’s Pier 2 Arts Center (高雄駁二藝術特區). Young rockers AltQQDog (中離狗) shares the stage with twin indie pop singers Yi-cheng, Yi-ching (依錚依靜) tonight. In late October of 1873 the government of Japan decided against sending a military expedition to Korea to force that nation to open trade relations. Located down a sideroad in old Wanhua District (萬華區), Waley Art (水谷藝術) has an established reputation for curating some of the more provocative indie art exhibitions in Taipei.
