Green Ray Theater (綠光劇團) continues its hugely popular production of Human Condition 5 — The Nature of Male is Wandering Mood (人間條件五 — 男性本是漂泊心情), the fifth chapter of its highly acclaimed Human Condition series. Written and directed by Wu Nien-jen (吳念真), the show features the series’ regular cast including actress Lin Mei-hsiu (林美秀) and theater veteran Luo Bei-an (羅北安).

2012 Cross-Strait Beijing Opera Joint Performance (2012兩岸京劇交流聯演) features top operatic talent from China and Taiwan produced as a collaboration between the Beijing Opera Troupe of the National Taiwan College of the Performing Arts (國立臺灣戲曲學院京劇團) and the Beijing Opera Theater (北京京劇院).

Deep Fall (秋夜), a new production from Taiwan’s avant-garde Firefly Theater (螢火蟲劇團), written and directed by the troupe’s artistic director Han Jiang (韓江). The production features actor Ronnie Oscar Tung (董浚凱) and actress Huang Hsiao-ching (黃曉菁) in the leading roles.

The National Concert Hall hosts the Taiwan Pro Arte Orchestra (普羅藝術家樂團) for a romantic-themed program that spans Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2 in E Minor and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7, to soundtrack music from The Godfather movie and the television show Hawaii Five-O. Liao Chia-hung (廖嘉弘) will conduct.

The San Francisco Symphony Orchestra visits Taipei this weekend for a two-night run. Conductor M. Tilson Thomas will lead the orchestra through Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 1 and Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2 on the first night. The second night is Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini and Mahler’s Symphony No.5 IV Adagietto. The concert features Wang Yu-ja (王羽佳) on violin.

Legacy Taipei, located in a former warehouse at Huashan 1914 Creative Park (華山1914), hosts top Taiwanese pop performers and international acts.
College-rock favourites Echo (回聲樂團) take to the stage tonight. Another beloved indie rock band, Aboriginal group Totem (圖騰) plays tomorrow to celebrate their 10th anniversary.
