British singer-songwriter Ed Harcourt appears tonight at The Wall (這牆). Harcourt’s music ranges from moody folk rock to Beatles-esque pop, all with a modern spin, and the influences of artists he reportedly admires, such as Tom Waits, Nick Cave and Jeff Buckley, comes through clearly.
Harcourt, 33, has already released five studio albums, including 2010’s Lustre, which was described by a reviewer from the Guardian as “reflective and occasionally darkish” and “very satisfying.”
On its Web site, The Wall has posted several YouTube videos (www.indievox.com/a/thewall/event-post/6260) that offers a taste of Harcourt’s intimate voice and atmospheric pop sound. His video for You Put a Spell on Me (bit.ly/bO3fm4) is also worth a click.
