Exhibition
Not a Thing: 2007 Chang Nai-wen Solo Exhibition (不是東西:張乃文個展). Roaming between minimalist abstractionism to more concrete styles, sculptor Chang finds inspiration from Chinese Buddhist classics to develop a modern sculpture vocabulary that is both diverse and subtle. In the exhibition, Chang creates a series of sculptures that assimilate images of both Buddha and demon, eliminating the boundary between human beings and monsters, good and evil, normal and abnormal and narrating a kind of ambiguous heterodoxy to subvert the traditional duality between Yin and Yang in Chinese philosophy.
