After years of feuding with the flamboyant Roth, the Van Halens have recently been at odds with another long-time singer, musician Sammy Hagar, who left in 2005 after his second stint with the band.
Unofficial reports of a reunion tour with Roth had been circulating for weeks in the music media.
Van Halen ranks 19th among the top-selling musical artists of all time with album sales of more than 56 million albums in the US alone, according to the Recording Industry Association of America.
