    Pop Stop

Gossip hounds had a hectic week as celebrity amours spanned Taiwan, China and the US. The most arresting event was speculation about paparazzi favorite IT tycoon Terry Kuo (郭台銘) and Carina Lau (劉嘉玲). Arriving in Kuo's limousine to attend the wannabe politician Lien Sheng-wen's (連勝文) grand wedding in Taipei on Monday, the pair made their third joint public appearance in a month and were caught holding hands on camera.

Married international star Gong Li (鞏俐) set tongues wagging after she was again spotted transgressing her nuptial oath with a young American guy in China early this month. According to Hong Kong paparazzi, the lucky man worked on the production crew of Miami Vice and took advantage of his favorable position to woo the star.

One year after they were caught kissing goodbye in Beijing, the pair apparently have moved their relationship to a higher level as they were seen disappearing into a hotel in Shanghai for a night.

It seems that Gong's foremost business rival Zhang Ziyi (章子怡) doesn't want to lose the spotlight either. Last week in New York City, Zhang was seen canoodling with a silver-haired Westerner of unknown identity at a baseball game in Madison Square Garden.

While Pop Stop waits for the paparazzi to find out who the middle-aged stud is, we congratulate the young star in the improvement in her English skills. Clearly she is now fluent in whispering sweet nothings to strangers from the West.

In regard to local celebrity tidbits, dancing queen Jolin Tsai (蔡依林) was spotted spending her sabbatical leave last weekend in London with Canada-educated wannabe star Eddie Peng (彭于晏) known for his reasonably pretty face and nothing else.

Contrary to the usual denials issued by celebrity agents, Peng's showed a rare sign of bluntness by saying he really looks forward to the romance blossoming; not surprising really as the social climber would be able to scale new heights if he got in there with the queen of Mando-pop.

On the other hand, Aaron Kwok (郭富城) quickly ditched his supermodel girlfriend Lynn Xiong (熊黛林) of three months, feeling that he was being used by Xiong to gain popularity.

In film-related news, the international press got a chance to take the first peep at what has been going on with Ang Lee (李安) and his Lust, Caution (色戒) last Sunday in Shanghai. The highly anticipated film will wrap up shooting next month. The slim director was accompanied by principle actors Tony Leung (梁朝偉), Wang Lee-hom (王力宏) and Tang Wei (湯唯), all of whom had undergone diets for the picture.

Appearing emaciated himself, the director reportedly lost his temper on the set several times and admitted that Wang needed extra training at the beginning of the shoot but had caught up with the rest of the cast soon enough.
