Known around town as ``Hairy Sean'' -- party promoter Mr. McClelland was in the mood for fun last week at the Indian Restaurant.

Satan, BA Baracus, Ali Baba, taike Tony, pimps and hoes, Spiderman, and crews of Vikings, geishas, Indians and angels were among the characters who stormed the town last Saturday, riled the cops and apparently annoyed neighbors of the Indian Restaurant at Bade Road.
Put on by a collaboration of Liquid Lifestyles, Bliss Productions and Lucid Productions the Halloween bash Nightmare on Bade Rd got down to business with a short set by The Originals, after which a many-armed DJ SL -- "Lord Shiva the destroyer" -- opened vinyl proceedings.
Undercover police were allegedly keeping an eye on the action and the boys in blue turned up later in the night to tell everyone to stop having so much fun. The music was turned down, but not for long.
The afterparty at Eden -- wiggling room only -- belted it out till well past dawn. The Selective Sessions party at the Kuta (Bali Bali) bar drew a more local set of characters who rocked to Edmund's rhythms.
Friday night was pretty dead apart from the opening do for Bed II on Anhe Road. With Taiwan funny man Jacky Wu (§d©v¾Ë) as an investor the place was full of D-list celebrities and DJ Apple in the mix. Hoping for some cool tunes and some free beer to boot the Vinyl Word intrepidly went along to check out what sounded like a cool pre-party hang out. Oooohps.
A stone's throw from Saints and Sinners and Carnegies, the Bed II is a bit chintzy, but any ambience was thrown out the window by camera crews following Wu's every move -- a media triumph.
The big beasts of Taipei nightlife now well and truly dominate the party scene with slick PR machines and plenty of jumpin' jack flash in their sky rockets to pull in the big name DJs. So this week a shout out goes to Purple (http://www.purple.club.tw), which after some unwanted attention from licensing and police authorities is reopen for business.
Wednesday night is ladies night with DJs DK, Stone and Tiger taking it through till 6am, a dangerous option for those with nine-to-five jobs. On weekends it's open till 7am on Saturday and 12am on Sunday.
Pick of the mix this weekend has got to be Japanese Techno master Ken Ishii who'll be grinding it down at Luxy tonight. Expect a big crowd for this gig. The winner of the Best Techno DJ at the DJ Awards held at Pacha, Ibiza last year, Ishii wrapped up a tour for the recent release of his double mix album Play, Pause and Play at Air in Tokyo last week.
Sweden's StoneBridge, who has remixed for the likes of De La Soul and Rebel MC, is touching down at Room 18 tomorrow night for a party sponsored by GQ magazine and a gin maker.
