It was a day that will go down in history, for the next six months at least: Taiwan's darling Lin Chih-ling (林志玲) being wheeled on a stretcher into a Chinese hospital with a sheet pulled over her face. Shooting a commercial for Olay body lotion in China's Dalian province last week, the diva was seriously injured in a nasty fall off the back of a horse -- some reports even claim she was trampled by the beast -- but she's not in mortal danger.
She was immediately rushed to the local hospital, where doctors got right to work on her. "She's 32 and still this hot!" one of the medics was reported as saying when he looked at her chart.
After they had finished ogling, the staff at the hospital determined that, despite as many six broken ribs and a contused lung, Taiwan's best-loved body will be back in ship shape eventually.
Of course Lin's parents are rushing to her side. Even Taiwan's first lady, Wu Shu-zhen (吾淑珍), called to lend some moral support to the country's convalescent national treasure.
Jay Chou (周杰倫) is in quite a pickle these days. His reportedly jealous girlfriend -- celebrity anchor Patty Hou (侯佩岑), who happens to have been rated the hottest woman in Taiwan -- tagged along for his huge concert at the Beijing Worker's Stadium, reportedly because she's none too comfortable with Hong Kong singer-supermodel Karen Mok (莫文蔚) sharing the stage with her hubby.
To make matters worse, a survey by the Web site sina.com shows that Chou's fans are still hung up on the whole Jolin Tsai (蔡依林) incident, and it's her they really want to see "performing" with him. For her part, Tsai seems pleased about the possibility of reviving the old Double J ticket (雙J組合) -- on stage, of course.
It looks like prime fodder for the gossip rags to invent a three-way tug-of-war. What's a boy to do?
Back to models getting hurt: A barrage of pleas and apologies by Wang Jing-yin's (王靜瑩) allegedly abusive husband appear to be falling on deaf ears.
Chen Wei-tao (陳威陶) has told reporters that he still has feelings for his wife, and can only hope that she will forgive him. He still won't admit to having hit her, though, so it's unclear what he wants to be forgiven for -- maybe for his family accusing the model last week of being mentally unstable and making the whole thing up? Whatever it is he's apologizing for, Chen's message is that he hopes Wang can forget this whole silliness and come home. Oh, and don't forget to drop those pesky criminal charges.
But Wong's advocate, city council representative Amanda Lin (林奕華), says that the actress is insisting on a divorce, and will fight for the kid's custody. The feud seems to be taking its toll on both parties. Wong has reportedly lost weight as a result of the violence, so that at 174cm tall, she is now just 44kg. And Chen had to go on an intravenous drip out of exhaustion, according to a friend, prompting rumors of a suicide attempt.
