This week's hottest gossip is all about stars rushing into parenthood -- with mixed results. Actress Jia Jing-wen (賈靜雯) first triggered the avalanche of maternity news by giving birth to a baby girl on Sunday. She and her fiance Sun Zhi-hao (孫志浩) named the baby Angelina because both of them are big fans of US superstar Angelina Jolie.
Sun had been playing the role of a caring and responsible husband -- then he ruined it all by getting caught drinking and driving with four hot, young babes the night before Jia went into labor. Local media said one of the ladies caught carousing was Sun's old lover Liu Yi-jun (劉怡君), a 27-year-old manager at the electronic-device manufacturer BenQ. To add fuel to the fire, the Great Daily News (大成報) then wrote that Liu was so hot that male employees at her company were all making moves on their boss.
Moving on. During a supposedly private conversation with Tsai Kang-yong (蔡康永) about her unborn baby on their show Here Comes Kang and Xi (康熙來了), Little S (小S) forgot to turn off her mic and "unwittingly" confirmed her rumored pregnancy to the world. The young mom-to-be was said to be terribly upset about the slip, because it is a Taiwanese custom to keep the good news quiet until the mom is three-months pregnant.
The newly married singer and TV host Zhang Qing-fang (張清芳) is also pregnant -- at the age of 39 -- and the news has encouraged lots of stars in their late 30s to give it another try, including veteran singer Jiang Shu-na (江淑娜) and TV host Lee Ming-yi (李明依). Even Faye Wang's (王菲) one-year career break has reportedly turned out to be a maternity leave, according to the Great Daily News. Rumor has it that the star is expecting her second child and wants to welcome the arrival of her baby in peace without any disturbance from the press. Her agent denied everything, as usual.
Sammi Cheng (鄭秀文) logged on to her official Web site two days in a row to confound rumors that she's dying of cancer. She sent word that she's been on vacation and will be back on-stage soon. Meanwhile, Hong Kong's Eastern Xinde Magazine (東方新地) claimed that the star has actually been suffering from severe depression, has locked herself up in her room, and hasn't left her house for more than a month. According to the Liberty Times (自由時報), one of her close friends told the media that Cheng had started acting weird even before the shooting of her latest film Song of Everlasting Sadness (長恨歌), and had changed her phone numbers two weeks ago to cut ties with friends. Her whole family was reportedly staying close around the clock to avoid a possible tragedy.
Following in the footsteps of naughty boy Da Zhi (大支), who made fun of goody-two-shoes Patty Hou (侯佩岑) by singing suggestive lyrics about her on his latest album, Taiwanese rocker Chang Chen-yue (張震嶽) and the notorious rapper MC Hotdog attacked the celebrity circle at Chang's concert in Hong Kong last Friday. Those not in the celebrity circle all cheerfully gave the finger in union when the two sang, ``Yuki, A-mei, Coco Lee Suck'' and ``F4 fuck.'' Chen later explained his disagreeable beha-vior by saying, ``We just want to voice our observations of society, not to make nasty comments about individuals. So don't take it personally.'' Yeah, right.
