A wayward collection at the Main Trend Gallery

Main Trend Gallery hosts `Wayward Economy' to highlight current economic issues via videos, Web sites and other installations

This has been a trend in some recent international exhibitions such as Documenta XI (Kassel, Germany) and the recently ended Taipei Biennial 2004, as there is emphasis on documentary-style works arranged in a rather straightforward way; ie. framed photos on white walls.

Perhaps a sparsely installed barebones type of exhibition implies that what is presented is truth in black-and-white and with nothing extraneous or superfluous included. But that is a serious risk to take, as often the politics presented are left of center and the works of art don't lend themselves to multi-layered meanings and platforms for dreaming.
