Trainspotters are bound to be pleased at new TIVAC show

By Chris Fuchs  /  CONTRIBUTING REPORTER

And there is still a Taipei Railway Station, which has been rebuilt four times since 1887. The present one just celebrated its 15th anniversary in September.

A new railway culture, Yang said, is emerging from Taipei's MRT, that has been in operation for 10 years now. But it is one that is more commercialized and centered on shopping. "Take a look at Taipei Railway Station,"he said. "The feeling is very frigid, very hard."

Yang, however, doesn't write this off. He is a journalist, after all. So he continues to photograph life in the MRT, as more and more stations are built.

"Whether it's? the railway or the subway, a society exists in every train station," Yang said. "And as a photographer, I can observe it and photograph."
