Connect is taking off on a flight of fancy this weekend with a jet travel theme for its latest dance music spectacular at Luxy.

Joining DJs Saucey, Coffey and Trix -- dressed up as pilots -- will be six "flight attendants" who will be greeting clubbers at the door. Stewardess "Wendy Warmnuts" will be handing out little bags of peanuts, while the rest will dispense cargo stickers with legends such as "fragile," "dangerous," and the one to avoid -- "overweight."

Star DJ will be Jeffrey Atizado, aka Jeffree, who made his name on the burgeoning Bali scene, after leaving Canada's West Coast in the late 1990s, where he started up. Describing himself as a progressive house DJ, he borrows heavily from tribal and techno dance music genres.

The Connect party is tonight at Luxy, 5F, 201 Zhongxiao E Road, Sec 4, Taipei (台北市忠孝東路四段201號五樓).

There's an ice theme going on in Taichung, where DJs The Sundance Kid, A100 and Papillon will be mixing it up. The dancefloor at Liquid Lounge (98 Chungming South Road) will include big blocks of ice that will be lit up and scattered around the dancefloor. The action takes place tonight, from 10pm till 5am and entrance is NT$350.

Also tonight, all the tables are booked at Ministry of Sound (MoS), with DJ Tiesto arriving to judge the first nationwide DJ competition. There will be resident DJs and a guest spot, for NT$800.

The big news at MoS, however, is its conversion into the legendary New York Studio 54 next weekend. Friday and Saturday will see Bert Bevans -- the original Studio 54 DJ -- accompanied by the divinely powerful songbird Jocelyn Brown, singing live. "She's a massive star and this will be a major event," MoS promoters said, adding the staff will be dressed up and the club decked out in Studio 54 memorabilia. MoS is on the corner of Lequn Third Road and Jingye First Road in Neihu, opposite the new Jiantan Temple. MoS, 310 Lequn 3rd Rd, Neihu, Taipei (台北市內湖區樂群三路310號).
