They're nuts for [the show] in Norway and Canada, but in Asia people are absolutely nuts about it. ... And in Taiwan, well, I figure it's because the people here have a mad and cheeky sense of humor. It's sort of Englishy in a way, as they relish seeing someone taking the piss.

Talking with `one lucky bastard'
Over the past decade, Ian Wright -- the cheeky English presenter of the hugely popular travel programs, "Globe Trekker" and "Lonely Planet" -- has become one of the most recognizable faces on TV. And nowhere more so than in Taiwan, where his cheeky chic has turned him into one of the region's most unlikely superstars. Recently in Taipei on a promotional tour, Taipei Times staff reporter Gavin Phipps caught up with the straight-talking host to chat about him and his enviable job.
