"People in Taiwan are always harping on about how they need recognition from other countries to be independent. But as far as I can tell, most foreigners consider Taiwan independent already. And isn't a presidential election in itself a declaration of independence? I mean, no one in China will be casting any votes," Freddy said.
If the audiences in Tokyo haven't already considered these issues, Nipples and Chthonic are intent on making their point loudly and see this event as the starting point of something potentially huge.
"We're thinking of this like the Tibetan Freedom Concerts that take place all around the world. They're really successful in spreading the word and drawing support for the Free Tibet cause," Freddy said. "We've thought about taking the show to Brussels to get the attention of the EU. Who knows, maybe we'll go play in Washington too."
