What's love all about, then?

If there aren't many pop concerts to attend this weekend, it might be due to the number of Mando-pop stars expected to turn out for What's Love About? (愛情有什麼道理), the song-and-dance drama adapted from the music of famous pop music composer Lee Zhong-sheng (李宗盛), set to take the stage at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall tomorrow night and Sunday and again next Thursday and Friday.

Lee was a singer himself once, but gained fame and earned something of a fortune as the executive producer of several pop albums in the 1970s and 1980s. For this reason alone, What's Love About? is a big thing in pop music circles, but has been boosted by good reviews and packed houses during its premiere last January.

Adding to its draw is stellar songstress Kit Chan (陳潔儀). A gifted singer, Chan pushes the boundaries of pop stardom for having earned critical acclaim in several previous theatrical productions. She's leading a cast to match her talents in a story that's, of course, about the trials and tribulations of beautiful young people falling in and out of love -- it's based on Mando-pop music; could it be about anything else?

Two guys run a matchmaker service. One of them is terribly shy and never had any girlfriends of his own and the other, a loner, believes none of his relationships can last longer than 24 hours. They set out for Shanghai to further their business prospects and end up furthering their romantic prospects, as well.
