The Brass Monkey

The people's DJ Frankie will be doing his "normal stuff" -- hitting you with rock `n' roll and then knocking you over with hip hop. The Party Room

Organizers say Friday Fright Night will be a special event at their lavish disco, with themed decorations and drink specials. Expect a "haunted house," dancefloor freak contest and "spooktacular spirits." DJs ZM, Wayne and Sam will be throwing down the dub plates with hip hop, R n' B and reggae.

Plush is just two doors away if you need a time out and the club is putting on a DJ contest sponsored by Motorola and MTV.

LUXY

Making an appearance in the charts yet again this week, LUXY is pushing Halloween Jam da Paradise, with DJ Tommy of the Hong Kong band Lazy Motherfuckers, who is "rilly good" according to the club's promoters. He's backed up by female DJ Mayumi from Japan and party rocker Shortee. MCs 3P, Freak Dudes and E.A.C. will be coloring the mic. Halloween has brought out K Fancy, Saucey, Coffee, Em Lee, Phifty Phive and Triple Stage.

There will be a costume contest with six Nokias to be won and other prizes. Advance tickets are available from Citizen Cain and the Amp clothing store behind California Fitness Gym on Zhongxiao East Road for NT$400. Full costume at the door is NT$600, otherwise NT$800.

Taichung

A new club opening on Halloween sounds a safe bet if you live in Taichung, which is a comfortable and cheap (NT$500 return) two-hour trip from the Chengde Road bus station in Taipei. Return any time in the morning, there are buses every 20 minutes or so. The legendary local DJ Victor is cutting the ribbon, so to speak, along with residents Tom and Rabbit.
