The folks at Chifunk are at it again.
Following the success of their last party at Tashan outside of Taichung, the crew is coming down from the mountains and setting up camp at Tongshiao Beach (通宵) in Miaoli County. And this time they're offering up not one, but two nights of art, film and tribal electronic music.
The Re.v.evolution.02 Starz Summer Solstice party starts tonight and goes though early Sunday morning.
Like last time, there will be performance art, Brazilian capoiera marshal arts, fire spinning, live acts and DJs until dawn. But a couple of new additions include interactive graffiti and an exhibit of works by master Taiwanese sculptor, Akin. There's even space for people to bring their own sculptures if you're interested in showing how you can turn ordinary household trash into art.
LM Productions will be featuring a mini film festival on the grounds, with shorts from Paul Becker, Michael Kalaitzis, Hallie McKeig and others. And tattoo artist Ah-Chi will be offering temporary tattoos on site as well as the real thing for anyone wanting an unforgettable souvenir.
Music lined up for the event includes, on Saturday, MC Hotdog's former scratcher, DJ J4 (小四), DJ Tom of We Save Strawberries, RainboWarrior, CaddyWampus and Saucey from Cananda, who the organizers claim was recently voted the top foreign DJ in Taiwan -- though we don't remember having a chance to vote.
Chifunk's DJ crew will put plenty of funky house and break beats on the tables tonight as well.
But there's a lot more information than the 256 words you just read on the organizer's Web site at http://www.revevolution.com.
It's far and away the best-organized Web site you'll find any local party promoter putting together and contains information on everything from how and where to buy your tickets to where you can spend the night and even has updated weather information, which shouldn't be a problem considering there's plenty of covered spaces available at the venue.
