In A Mouth in Taipei: A Naked Stand-up Comedy Show (台北一張嘴@赤裸相聲秀), Lee may not strip, but he will certainly lay bare his wayward imagination. If his unpredictable behavior is not enough to raise some eyebrows, Lee draws the diners at Mitzang Cafe (米蒼音像食館) into his imaginary world to act out scenes of madness.
For the prologue, the audience will be masked and taken off to a dark basement where they are made to watch unrelated video projections in an oppressive atmosphere. This is followed, while the audience is still numb for the video shows, by a kiss-and-tell account of his life, told sometimes witha straight face and sometimes in drama-queen style.
The play has three sections, the first of which is "Visiting Relatives in China." Here an impressively beer-gutted Lee exposes quantities of belly and acts out a meeting with a male cousin from China, picking as his target a female member of the audience. After some high-spirited chatter, realization dawns that the woman is not the male cousin, and this serves as an excuse for random babbling and gesturing, Lee stripped down to his long underwear. It's all about impromptu interaction through the other sections of the show.
A Mouth in Taipei: Naked Stand-up Comedy will be performed tonight and tomorrow at 7pm at Mitzang Cafe located at 24, Chaochou St, Taipei (台北市潮州街24號). Tickets are NT$250 and available at the venue. For more information, call (02) 33932660.
