The Crossover Dance Company (台北越界舞團), which has been responsible for some of Taiwan's most innovative modern dance projects, announced a new project Wednesday in which five dancers, including Lo Man-fei (羅曼菲), who has not performed in Taiwan in the past two years, will collaborate with English choreographer Charlotte Vincent in a performance scheduled for November.

The project, entitled After the Party, has been brought about partly by the efforts of the British Council, which has been very active in bringing British acts to Taiwan. In this case, the dancers are all local, and the work is being created through the interaction of dancers and choreographer. "It is working in the spirit of mutual challenge," Vincent, who is visiting Taiwan for two weeks, said at a press conference on Wednesday.

"The work is inspired by weddings and their aftermath," Vincent said. Having been to weddings of several good friends recently, she said that wedding parties can be a joyous occasions, but also the most "most and lonely places on this planet." Working with a group of unfamiliar dancers, she is seeking to bring out this idea through a number of dance sequences. These pieces cross the border between modern dance and physical theater, and are still very much works in progress.

Another dance performance that is coming to Taiwan due to the efforts of the British Council will be Akram Khan, who will visit Taiwan in the last week of September for a series of shows and master classes.
