Films from down under come to town

Looking for respite from the usual Hollywood fare? Seven Australian films are on offer through May 19

By Ian Bartholomew  /  STAFF REPORTER

Other films in the festival are Thank God He Met Lizzie, with Kate Blanchett and Richard Roxburgh; Two Hands, by Gregor Jordan; Children of the Revolution, with Judy Davis, Sam Neil and Richard Roxburgh and Doing Time for Patsy Cline, which also stars Richard Roxburgh.

With the exception of Children of the Revolution, all the films reflect Australian concerns and have a very Australian mode of thought which is very refreshing after the diet of US product that Taiwan cinemas force feed their audiences.

During the Australian Film Festival, three films will be screened each day, and the whole program of seven movies will be screened on Sundays. Tickets are NT$180 per screening. For more information, contact the Spring International President cinema at (02) 2388-5576.
