Stepping out with the seasons

By Gavin Phipps  /  STAFF REPORTER

The Celebration of World Dance series continues this weekend with a

performance by the Russian Seasons Dance Company at the National Concert

Hall.

Originally part of the Russian Seasons Theatre, a troupe founded in 1910,

the Seasons Dance Company stepped out on its own in 1991. Since then, the

troupe has enjoyed successful tours of the US, Europe and Asia.

The performance by the Russian dance troupe is the last in a very popular

series of shows that has seen international dancers from Ireland, Argentina

and Spain strutting their stuff on stages around the nation.

The production by the Seasons troupe is set to be a little different from

previous shows in the series, however. Instead of focusing solely on

traditional Russian dance, the troupe will be performing a mixed program of

world dance.

Under the guidance of Nikolai Androsov, the well-known dance company will be

taking audiences on a global foot-tapping tour of Ireland, Austria, Hungary,

Russia and even Broadway.

The Russian Seasons Dance Company will perform at the National Theater (國家

戲劇院) tonight at 7:30pm and tomorrow at 2:30pm and 7:30pm. Tickets for all

performances cost between NT$300 and NT$2,000 and are available on the door.
