Rated PG-13, directed by Gary Fleder, with Michael Douglas (Dr Nathan Conrad), Brittany Murphy (Elisabeth Burrows), Sean Bean (Patrick Koster), Skye McCole Bartusiak (Jessie Conrad) and Famke Janssen (Aggie Crawford), running time: 113 minutes.
Dr Nathan Conrad is a successful psychiatrist, has a beautiful wife and daughter, and can whip up eggs in a flash. It all goes wrong when his daughter is kidnapped by jewel thieves and held, not for ransom, but for a six-digit number that will unlock a safe. The number, however, is locked inside the mind of a mentally-ill girl who happens to be one of Conrad's patients. The good doctor's world is turned upside-down when he's told he must either find out the number from the less-than-cooperative young woman or his daughter will be killed. But Conrad proves he's more than just a whiz in the kitchen. The problem with this color-by-numbers thriller from the director of Kiss the Girls is that it fails to thrill.
